Rev. Dr walther Obare Omwanza the Arch Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya (ELCK) addressed pastors conference of LCMS Nebraska District on 26th October 2008. The Bishop was accompaned by the General Secretary of the church Rev. John Halake. Bishop Obare has been accused of arrogance and beeing a black wolve in Europe for his defence of the biblical stand. Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya recently celebrated her 60 years since it was founded in Kenya by the Sweedish mission group. As a spokesman of the church Bishop Obare has stood for the true Lutheranism as seen by Dr. Luther. The following is his full speach in Nabraska State USA.

ELCK Grows against
the odds in the political arena.

Evangelical Lutheran Church
in Kenya
has noted tremendous growth during the last one year. In his presentation to
the 41st Annual General Assembly, Presiding Bishop Dr. Walter Obare
told the delegates that ELCK is now operating in seven provinces in Kenya with a light touch in North Eastern
Province. The Bishop said
that from the diocesan statistics the membership of ELCK is now 96,000, with
122 pastors, 183 trained evangelists and 66 deaconesses.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya through the help of scripture mission has arranged for a workshop which will last for three weeks at CORAT AFRICA starting from 13th of July to 2 of August. The training brings together five church officers from each Diocese who will be given the skills and take the responsibility to go back to help in the training of others on peace building. This 20 participants brings together different professionals ranging from congregational Pastors, deaconesses, community developers, communicators and Pyschologists.
